SRI will be hosting their first ever U6/U8 player and coach developmental training sessions on April 28th & May 19th free of charge. Many clubs around the state do not have Spring sessions so this will be a great opportunity for these age groups and their coaches to get a jumpstart on their Fall seasons.
Session Objectives:
- Simple guidelines on how to train out most impressionable age groups
- How to 1st make it fun, keep the kids coming back year after year and to ultimately love the game of soccer.
- Explain why result oriented games should not be a focus.
- Maximize touches with minimal structure during the session – player lead instruction allows for more touches on the ball, greater problem solving which makes the session more fun, instills confidence and develops a more well-rounded player.
A strong foundation is key to everything in life.
Know your age group and their abilities and start with the basics until they are mastered and build from there. This mastery will lead to confidence in the players themselves and exponential growth in them and their coaches alike.
Grow your knowledge – Build Confidence
SRI board members and coaching staff throughout RI have attended Regional and National Soccer trainings and have come away with a lot of new information for teaching the youth of today. Sports science has now taught us that the training methods of 10 – 20 years ago no longer works. Conversations and seminars with coaches and trainers from around the world have proven without a doubt that unless we change how we coach in these developmental years our professional athletes will never be relevant on the world stage.
